We went back to fine tune it all before handing it all in, I tried to smooth out some of the movements/animations as well as make the ending run smoother.
This is our final cut!
FEEDBACK
Again we got good feedback and that they agreed on how we had fixed the continuous line problem. The whole rhythm of it and feel they agreed worked well with the composition. They did agree that it needs some fine tuning but that they could see how it would end up and that we ticked the box for what we wanted and needed.
This is our nearly finished animation. Overall we are really happy with it and see that as a overall piece it works well with the music, the subtle red we feel works well to embrace the dark themes present in the music.
Even though there isn't a specific story line we have it does have a sense of building up throughout works well and it turning predominantly red at the end give the opportunity to show an ending since the style is slightly different to the main part of the animation.
We all agree that it needs some tweaking and that animations need to be amended since there are some staggered, so basically just to fine tune it all and possibly add in some extra textures.
We spent then spent a couple of days piecing it all together we had already done a little but since we had all our assets made we play around with different layers, animation styles and more.
I did some of the editing and piecing together in premiere.
These are some of the other assets the rest of our group made, the darkness of the these with the mix of human emotions helps visualise how we as a group interpreted the music. We wanted the feel of the animation to be dark and we feel with everything we have created as a group we have created a style that speaks with our inital thought of personality for the music.
This is just to show how we pieced together the animation on the left you can see the different position, scale etc options as well as the blending modes. I did a fair amount of the animation but we all consulted with each other and took turns.
These are finished base animation that will go all the way through along with the red line. We are now at the stage where we can piece it all together and start making the animation to the standard we want.
These are some further assets I've made I felt I could do more as it's better to have too many options than too little. The blend of colours and use of different shapes work nicely and feel represent the music well.
Our next steps are to carry on making assets for the animation while Octavia finishes her part and then get back into the editing suit and piece things together and see what we end up creating.
In terms of fixing the problem for the red line - we felt we should keep it as it allow the viewer to have something that lasts the length of the animation and we just liked the look. We did agree with the feedback given in the sense that we should find a way where it fits in better. So what I did was zooming into it and trying to have the line draw as it goes along and it being tracked by the 'camera'.
I tried to have it where for most of the animation it's drawing it in the middle and only at the beginning and end it's on the sides. I had a few issues and if the video were just this I'd tweak it further but since our plan is to have a load of mixed media I felt as if the line being a little jaggerd it works well!
Feedback
I'd say we were pretty happy with the feedback we got we got a GREEN card. Both Fern and Hitch said they could see our clear incentive for how we want our animation to be and that they liked the black and white look with a hint of red.
They did mentioned to maybe think of a better way to incorporate the red line with the animation and that at the point the facts it's stagnant and is small can be a little off putting with what is going to be going on in the animation. So really to just try and problem solve this issue. Overall they were happy with what we presented.
Using what we have created so far we pieced this first example together this rough first example show Hitch and Fern. Our main aim was just to show the sort of layering we may do but at the same time we showed our individual assets we made that we plan on adding to the final edit.
We feel that with the first pitch we were able to show what we were feeling and the sort of style we were going for.
Whilst the other have been making other video assets I've been making a range of animated textures. They don't look much but my plan is if they are used is to edit them in premiere using the transparency layers as well as playing around with the speeds and other variables.
I listened to the composition while design these patterns I feel like the esicalated feel to the piece throughout could work well with what I have made alongside other people's assets.
This is a slightly further along version of octavias mixed media animation we feel she has done a great job and are excited to see this finished thing.
These are some of the collages and texture the others have made during this. They are to a very high standard and will be great assets for making this animation. The pop of red really gives a good picture to what the animation style might end up being. It's exciting to see how everything is coming together.
This is the line animation I ended up making - I had to do it in a few parts so I wouldn't lose the quality of the line. I used one that octavia had previously drawn for reference. We all agree that this is the best way we could have done the line. We are still not sure how to fit it in exactly but will work with that problem when we get to our first edit.
This is an animation Octavia made - we are all extremely happy with it as it goes along nicely with the music and our plan to layer different mediums on top and underneath will lend itself well to this animation style.
I was struggling to come up with an easy way of making the animation line animate. With Octavia we tried film one of drawing the line which we liked the idea of but then though the idea of having a hand in the shot wouldn't be the style we were going for. We are glad although to have tried it out.
Another idea is to screen record me doing it which is a bit logistically tricky but not as bad as animation the line being drawn.

Human after all/Weapons of reason
Going in to this I didn't know too much about Human After All and Weapons of Reason but I wish I had. Instantly when Craig started talking about data visualisation and the ethical sides to design it was all about what I want to be doing in the future.
His talk was well laid out and to learn about how human after all work was incredibly excited and makes me hope that I too can work in a similar company in the future if not that company!
Simone Berkley
I was really looking forward to this talk by Berkley as we all felt as a group that his mixed media style could give us some further ideas. I like the bright colours he uses in his installation pieces they are bold and bright and really stand out. They seem to intrigue the viewer to get up close and to see what is going on.
Unfortunately whilst I feel his work is good I personally found it hard to get anything from his talk it wasn't clear what direction he was going in and it was hard to get a overall meaning from the whole thing. It did make me glad to have found out about his work however.

Christina Couceiro
Coucerio's work is a good example of what we are trying to go for. We all really like her style and the red, white and black prints are good examples of how we feel the animation could go. We feel this mixed media styles lends itself well to our composition.
These some of jotted down next steps, our plan is to make textures, collages, animations which are suited to our styles.
Octavia will look at the animation a little more, I will look into making some textures and line animation and lucia josh and kieran will do some further collages. We may all look at collages as well if we feel an idea comes to mind.
These are some examples animations that kieran lucia and josh made. (note I couldn't find lucias example but it was very good also). Being able to look at these really helped us all further picture how this animation will go along.
This is an example Octavia put together. This a great example that we were all envisioning and being able to put pen to paper really helped us see where this animation could go. Octavia put together some rough images she had and made the black and white animation over the top.
We all really feel that this style works well with the music and our next steps are to makes some collages/assets that we think will work with the animation.
These are some soundwave experiments I did just as a starter. The idea we have is to have dark likely black and white collages animations running alongside this line. We like this as a starting point but may look into other ways of visualising it.
We like the idea of maybe having a hint of red just as it would be a good colour combination with the black and white and it's always a good contrast. Also to go with the darkness that feel with the music we fell this could be just right.
We met as a group and all agreed that it had a dark feeling to it. Above are some overall themes we thought about the piece of music of being dark and agreed that we are all open to working in new ways.
I as below had done some made up sound waves as I was listening and lucia had generated some real sound waves from the composition. We all liked the idea of possibly using a wave in some way or another. We felt this could be good as the music has real feel to it and changes throughout the piece so to be able to visualise this is some way we thought was a good start.
Notes for audio clip
My initial interpretations of our audio clip are that it is quite dark feeling but had a buildup in the middle. To try to picture this I did a little illustration. It starts of more chilled and then slowly buildings up and then goes up and down a little until the end.
I feel like a dark aesthetic would lend itself well to the audio clip.
Moon Rivas
I thought it was interesting to hear what Rivas had to say and that fact that she explores the idea of a new sense. As well as building the cyborg foundation it isn't something that really resonates and interests me. I see how thinking outside the box could help with the set brief but I didn't come away from the talk inspired more just a little confused.
Yuri Suzuki
I really like Suzuki's work - for me when art is interactive I always feel that it bridges that gap between the artist and viewer and bring those world together and makes art for me more inclusive. Also to be able to use music to do this is great as everyone has an understand for it since they likely hear it everyday in one way or another. I agree with his statement about how if kids like it then it's quite the achievement - what got me into art when I was younger was the inclusivity feel to it and that I didn't feel left out to what was going on in a gallery/museum.

Alfred Schnittke was a soviet/german composer - through his early work has similarities to that of Dmitri Shostakovich, but as he progressed he developed a polystylistic style to his music.

Philharmonic Orchestra
The talk given by the person from the Philharmonic Orchestra really helped me understand the way they work more but also get a further understanding fro Alfred Schnittke. His piece is so varied and being given just a one minute clip to add a film to I think is a nice task idea as each group will interpret it differently.

UNIT X - Part 1 - Polystylism
My initial thoughts on the brief are that it could go in any direction imaginable. The fact that it starts as a collaboration it allows us as a group to create something that falls under polystylism.

Michaël Dudok de Wit -  Inspirer Series
Michaël's talk was really good I enjoyed learning about how he had gotten where he is in life and the work he has done along the way. His advice to us whilst obvious was really useful and "inspiring" and it being said out loud made it that bit more important.
